I Knew It!

Over at the Conservative Philosopher, KJB admits what we've all known for a long time- he's actually not a conservative (gasp!). I can't say I'm surprised...

"Conservatives, like liberals, want as much government as is necessary to accomplish their substantive purposes. They just have different purposes. Some of my conservative colleagues believe that individual liberty lies at the core of conservatism. I deny it. It lies at the core of libertarianism. "

American Conservativism is firmly grounded and founded upon Christian principles. History has shown us time and time again that liberty without objective principles is unsustainable. As Fancis Shaefer explains in his brilliant book "How Should We Then Live?," if rights are to be absolute (uncompromisable), then they must be founded upon absolute principles, which only religions in general, and Christianity in particular, offer. Liberty is one of several principles of Christianity, and unless KJB claims to be omniscient, then he must accept all or none. They all have the same foundation.
