HPS School Board: Driven to Destruction

January 22, 2006 Meeting of the Board of Education for Howell Public Schools

Eyewitness Report:

    Bottom line:

They did not approve the curriculum. They were short votes. They had to ask new member Wendy Day how to handle the situation, since they were unfamiliar with Roberts Rules of order. (What a hoot.)

Mr. Westmoreland said he will not be there simply to rubber stamp.

Mr. Arthur was comical and amusing.

Mr. Norton riled the troops and warned the board and the community they had better give the teachers what they want and deserved, because they care about the kids. (Ha Ha Ha.)

The clustermuck going on in Howell makes it real easy to say "Go Dogs!"

On a serious note, good to see that Westmoreland is his own man, and hopefully Wendy will get some help this year, at least on the fiscal problems there.

Normally I don't get shocked with book passages, especially with movies like Team America World Police, Scarface, and The Last Boy Scout in my collection. I don't go as far as Wendy does on removing the books from the classroom, but The Bluest Eyes - that's bad. I'd recommend the movie Showgirls before recommending that book.
