Prayer at the Close of School

Heavenly Father,

We come before you today gathered together in your name, as faithful friends and as servants of your son.

We praise you for blessing us throughout the school year, especially for helping us grow in knowledge. We thank you for our facilities, for our professors, and for each other. We rejoice that you have drawn us together at Hillsdale College, a school that truly is a light in a dark world.

Lord, keep us close to you while we are away from this place. Strengthen us to resist all temptation to sin and shame, and may Your Spirit help us to conduct ourselves always as Christians. Help us to spend our summer wisely so that we may be refreshed in body, mind, and spirit for the Fall semester.

Heavenly Father, we ask that you would bless the lives of our seniors as they are sent out to join the work force or attend graduate school, that You would have them be fruitful servants of Your Will and Truth. Keep them in the Faith and use them to make a difference for our nation, for the world, and in the lives of those they meet.

We pray also that You would send Your blessing upon the incoming freshman, Lord. Reassure them in their worries and bring them to us prepared materially, financially, intellectually, and spiritually for the challenges ahead.

Send Your holy angels to protect us in our travels. Amid all the dangers of the crowded highways, airports, and wherever else we may be, keep us safe from harm and danger, and at the end of the summer, bring us safely back together again.

In your holy name we both pray and go.
